Come and weave a hand towel or dishcloth.
In this class, you'll take your first steps in weaving on a frame loom and leave with a hand towel or dishcloth you've woven.

Workshop duration: 5h00

Workshop description:

In this workshop, participants will be introduced to weaving on a 4-frame loom. During the workshop, the basics of weaving will be covered, as well as the operation of a table and floor loom, followed by a demonstration.

Afterwards, you'll design your project, choosing different types of yarns, colors and patterns, before weaving your own project from start to finish.
And you'll leave with your very own hand-woven linen!

The following technical notions will be covered:

    Choosing yarns for warp and weft
    The basics of reading a weaving project (pattern)
    The possibilities of weaving different weaves
    Weaving in itself
    Removing the project from the loom
    Tips and tricks for good weaving
    Common problems and solutions
    Finishing a piece

The course is presented by :
Catherine Malichecq
A lifelong enthusiast of art in general; she parates dance, music, drawing and also different types of crafts, in particular miniaturism, embroidery, felting and weaving. She attended numerous workshops and courses, taught, and won various prizes in embroidery and weaving.
A logical progression, between business and crafts, in September 2019 she creates the boutique Tisse et File and in 2020, the Cours Tisse et File.

Location:
Tisse et File, at 571 Boul. St-Jean-Baptiste in Mercier.

How it works:
Classes run from 10am to 12pm and from 1pm to 4pm.
