Louët Spring II 8 or 12-Shaft Floor Loom
Precise, powerful, and remarkably comfortable to weave on, the Louët Spring II is a parallel countermarch floor loom available with 8 or 12 shafts. Its system controls both the rising and sinking shafts simultaneously, creating a clean shed while maintaining balanced tension on the warp threads.
Available in two weaving widths, 90 or 110 cm, the Spring II features 10 treadles in the 8-shaft version and 14 treadles in the 12-shaft version. The 8-shaft model can also be upgraded to 12 shafts later, allowing the loom to evolve along with your weaving practice.
Made from lacquered beech, the Spring II combines sturdy construction with several features designed to make weaving easier and more comfortable, including a friction brake, foldable back beam, adjustable beater height, storage shelf, and built-in raddle in the castle.

Why choose the Spring II?
The Spring II stands out primarily for its parallel countermarch system. Unlike a loom where only selected shafts rise or sink, a countermarch system actively moves both groups of shafts: some rise while the others sink. This action creates a clean shed while providing excellent control of the warp.
Louët designed the Spring system to retain the advantages of a countermarch loom while simplifying its operation. The tie-up cords are cut to the correct length, and the lamms are arranged to make treadle tie-up easier.
The Spring II is therefore an excellent choice for weavers who want 8 or 12 shafts and extensive freedom to explore weave structures, while also looking for a precise and comfortable loom for regular use.
8 or 12 shafts?
The Spring II is available with 8 or 12 shafts. Your choice will depend primarily on the structures you want to explore, but you do not have to make a permanent decision when purchasing the loom.
The 8-shaft version can be upgraded to 12 shafts later with the Louët extension kit. It is therefore an excellent option if 8 shafts meet your current needs while you would like the possibility of expanding your loom in the future.
With 12 shafts, the Spring II immediately opens the door to more complex structures, additional blocks, and greater freedom when designing your own fabrics.

Should you choose 12 shafts right away?
Not necessarily. If you primarily work with 4- or 8-shaft structures, the 8-shaft Spring II already offers tremendous possibilities. Because it can be upgraded to 12 shafts later, you can start with 8 and expand your loom when your weaving practice calls for it.
90 or 110 cm?
Consider the projects you actually weave and the space available around the loom. The Spring 90 is already wide enough for a very large variety of projects. The Spring 110 becomes particularly appealing if you regularly want to weave pieces that require additional width.

Care and use
Like any wooden loom, the Spring II should be kept indoors in a stable environment, away from excessive humidity and significant temperature fluctuations. Regular dusting of the wood and the various parts of the mechanism is generally sufficient for routine care.
