Le Tencel (Lyocell) : Une Fibre Innovante et Écoresponsable

Tencel (Lyocell): an innovative, eco-friendly fiber

What is Tencel (Lyocell)?

Tencel, also known as Lyocell, is a revolutionary textile fiber made from sustainable wood pulp, mainly from trees such as eucalyptus, beech and pine. Its closed-circuit manufacturing process recycles 99% of the solvents used, making Tencel an ecological, biodegradable and sustainable fiber. Tencel combines softness, strength and durability with biodegradability.
Characteristics of Tencel yarn

Tencel is appreciated for its many unique properties:

Softness and fluidity: Its silky feel and smooth texture make it ideal for clothing and household linen.
Absorbency and breathability: It regulates moisture, enabling better perspiration management and optimal comfort.
Resistance and durability: Stronger than cotton, it retains its strength even after several washes.
Hypoallergenic and antibacterial: Thanks to its smooth fibers, it limits the proliferation of bacteria and is suitable for sensitive skin.
Eco-responsible: Its production uses a 99% recyclable, non-toxic solvent, reducing its environmental impact.

The history of Tencel (Lyocell)

Lyocell's origins date back to the 1970s, when it was developed as an alternative to synthetic fibers. However, it wasn't until 1992 that Austrian company Lenzing AG perfected and patented the Tencel manufacturing process, making it popular on the textile market.

Since then, the fiber has gained recognition for its low environmental impact, comfort and versatility. Today, it is used to make durable clothing, household linen and even technical textiles.

Thanks to its exceptional qualities, Tencel is establishing itself as a fiber of the future, ideal for fans of ethical fashion, high-end textiles and responsible consumption.
