CMYK acid dye kit for wool, silk, and other animal fibres, designed to create a wide range of colours using four fully compatible base shades.

Detailed description

The Ashford CMYK Dye Kit contains acid dyes specially formulated for animal fibres such as wool, silk, and other protein fibres. Manufactured in Europe by Bayer, these dyes are suitable for both passionate hobbyists and professional dyers.

The four colours included in this kit have been carefully selected for their compatibility. When mixed, they allow the creation of a broad and nuanced colour palette based on the CMYK principle. The dyes are safe, easy to use, and compliant with Oeko-Tex Standard 100.

Colour fixation requires white vinegar as a mordant and heat (microwave, stovetop, or steam). Ashford provides a range of tutorials and learning resources to guide users through various dyeing techniques.

Kit contents

  • Turquoise
  • Bright Pink
  • Bright Yellow
  • Charcoal

These four colours can be mixed to create a wide spectrum of shades.

Dye solution preparation (1% solution)

  1. Dissolve 10 g of dye powder in a small amount of hot water
  2. Add cold water to make a total of 850 ml
  3. Add 150 ml of white vinegar

This produces a 1% dye solution, sufficient to dye approximately 1 kg of fibre, yarn, or fabric.
