Discover Inkle Weaving in a Friendly, Hands-On Workshop

Handwoven bands have been used for centuries to decorate, reinforce and personalize textile projects. Today, they remain popular for creating belts, bag straps, decorative trims, bookmarks and countless other woven accessories.

During this one-day workshop, you will learn how to weave your very first inkle band using a traditional inkle loom. Step by step, you'll discover the fundamentals of this fascinating weaving technique in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere with personalized instruction throughout the day.

No previous weaving experience is required. This workshop has been designed especially for beginners.

Language of instruction: This workshop is taught entirely in French. Participants should be comfortable understanding spoken French in order to fully benefit from the demonstrations and individual guidance.

  • Duration: Approximately 6 hours
  • Level: Beginner

What You Will Learn

Throughout the day, you will be introduced to every step required to weave your own inkle band.

  • Understand how an inkle loom works.
  • Dress and prepare the loom.
  • Read and follow a simple weaving pattern.
  • Select and combine colours.
  • Develop an even weaving rhythm.
  • Recognize and correct common beginner mistakes.
  • Gain the confidence to continue weaving on your own after the workshop.

Your Project

Each participant will weave their own inkle band and may choose from several colour combinations available during the workshop.

Because everyone works at a different pace, the finished length of each band will vary. The goal of the workshop is to develop a solid understanding of the technique and build the confidence needed to continue weaving future projects independently.

Everything You Need Is Provided

All materials required during the workshop are included.

  • Inkle loom (loaned for the day)

If you would like to continue your project at home, the same inkle loom used during the workshop is generally available for purchase, subject to availability.

What to Bring

  • A notebook for personal notes.
  • Indoor shoes.
  • Your own lunch (lunch break on site).

Why Only Six Participants?

This workshop is intentionally limited to six participants to ensure personalized instruction throughout the day. Small groups allow the instructor to answer questions, provide individual guidance and adapt the pace to each participant's needs.
