Why choose the Zach 22"?
The Zach is an excellent choice for weavers who want a substantial working area without moving to a large studio loom. Its 19" weaving width opens the door to more ambitious tapestries while keeping the loom's weight to only 7 lb.
It is large enough to serve as a weaver's primary tapestry loom while remaining easy to set up on a table and store when not in use. Its relatively light weight also makes it possible to transport for workshops or other occasions when you want to take your loom with you.
The shedding device makes weaving faster and easier by alternately separating the two layers of warp threads. Depending on the type of projects you plan to weave, you can choose between a standard 3/4" shed and an extended 1.5" shed.

Our recommendation: choose the Zach 22" if you want a loom large enough to become your primary tapestry loom while remaining relatively compact. If you expect to transport your loom frequently and a 16" weaving width is sufficient, the Deb will be more practical.
Which version should you choose?
The Zach is available with two types of shedding device. Each can be selected on its own or with 200 Texsolv heddles suited to the selected shedding device.

Our recommendations
Standard or extended shed?
For most tapestry projects, we recommend the standard 3/4" shedding device. Choose the extended 1.5" shed if you plan to weave rugs or simply want more room for passing bobbins, shuttles or your fingers through the shed.
Should you add the 200 Texsolv heddles?
If you do not already own suitable heddles and do not want to make your own, we recommend the version with 200 heddles. Heddles for the extended shedding device are longer than standard heddles. Depending on the width and sett of your warp, 200 heddles may not be sufficient for every project.

Care and use
Set up the Zach on a stable surface and make sure all components are properly tightened before you begin weaving. Adjust the tension gradually to maintain even warp tension across the full width.
Handle the warp coils carefully, as their ends may be sharp. The loom's other metal components should also be handled with care. If you disassemble the loom for transport or storage, carefully realign all components when reassembling it.

Should I choose the standard or extended shedding device?
The standard 3/4" shedding device is suitable for most tapestry and bead-weaving projects. The extended 1.5" shed is particularly useful for rug weaving or when you want more room to pass bobbins, shuttles or your fingers through the shed.
Can I use the Zach for both tapestry and bead weaving?
Yes. The Zach is designed for fibres, beads or projects combining the two. The four included warp coils also allow you to adapt the sett to different types of projects.
Are heddles included?
They are included only with the “+ 200 Texsolv Heddles” versions. With the other versions, you can make your own heddles or purchase them separately. Heddles for the extended shedding device are longer than standard heddles.
Do I always have to use the shedding device?
No. You can set up your project with or without it. Mirrix specifies a weaving length of up to 47" with the shedding device and up to 51" without it when using continuous warping.
What happens if the Zach or the configuration I choose is not in stock?
Some Mirrix products are available immediately from Tisse et File, while others are ordered as needed. For an item that needs to be ordered, please allow approximately 2 to 3 weeks.
