By replacing the original rod with a shorter or longer one, you can adapt the maximum weaving length to your project: keep your loom extra compact for small pieces or add more working height for a longer tapestry or bead-weaving project.

Why change the threaded rod length?
The threaded rod connects the upper and lower beams of the Chloe or Saffron. Its length therefore determines the space available between the beams and, consequently, the maximum weaving length.
A shorter rod keeps the loom extremely compact for small projects. A longer rod increases the available height when you want to weave a longer tapestry or bead piece.
This allows you to adapt the same loom to a variety of projects without purchasing another loom.

Which length should you choose?
Short – 7 3/4"
Reduces the overall height of the loom and provides a maximum weaving length of 5" on the Chloe or 6" on the Saffron. A useful choice for very small projects and for keeping your setup especially compact.
Regular – 11 3/4"
Provides a maximum weaving length of 8" on the Chloe or 9" on the Saffron. This is the rod length originally supplied with the Saffron and with the 5" and 8" Chloe looms.
Long – 14 1/2"
Increases the maximum weaving length to 11" on the Chloe or 12" on the Saffron. This is the rod length supplied with the 10" Chloe.
Extra Long – 20"
For projects that require additional height, this rod provides a maximum weaving length of 16 1/2" on the Chloe or 17 1/2" on the Saffron.
Compatibility
All four rod lengths can be used with Mirrix Chloe and Saffron Pocket Looms.
The maximum weaving length differs slightly between the two loom designs.
Important for the 10" Chloe: this model uses two threaded rods instead of one. When changing its height, you must therefore use two identical rods.
Our recommendations
Do you own a 5" or 8" Chloe?
These looms come with the regular 11 3/4" rod, providing a maximum weaving length of 8". Choose the short rod for an even more compact loom, or a long or extra-long rod when your project requires additional height.
Do you own a Saffron?
The Saffron was also supplied with the regular 11 3/4" rod. The other lengths allow you to change the loom's height to suit different projects.
Do you own a 10" Chloe?
This model comes with two 14 1/2" long rods, providing a maximum weaving length of 11". To use another length, choose a configuration that provides two matching rods for the 10" Chloe.

Installation and use
Simply replace the threaded rod on your Chloe or Saffron with the length that best suits your project, then assemble and tension the loom normally.
On the 10" Chloe, both rods must be the same length so the upper and lower beams remain parallel.
Once assembled, the loom retains its adjustable tensioning system while providing the new working height.
