Mirrix Tall Edition 16" Tapestry and Bead Loom
Would you like to weave longer pieces without moving to a much wider loom? The Mirrix Tall Edition 16" combines a maximum weaving width of 13" (33 cm) with the height of a 22" Mirrix loom.
Designed for tapestry and bead weaving, it allows you to weave pieces up to 47" (119 cm) long with the shedding device in place and using continuous warping. Its tall, relatively narrow format is particularly well suited to vertical tapestries, table runners, small rugs, belts, straps and other long projects.
Like other looms in the Mirrix Classic Series, it provides strong, adjustable warp tension, sturdy construction and the flexibility to use the shedding device or weave without it, depending on your project.

Why choose the Tall Edition 16"?
The Tall Edition 16" meets a very specific need: providing plenty of weaving length while keeping the loom relatively narrow and portable.
It has the width of the Big Sister 16", with a maximum weaving width of 13", but the height of a 22" Mirrix loom. This gives you considerably more weaving length without taking up the space of a wider loom.
It is therefore an excellent choice if your projects tend to be longer than they are wide, or if you want a compact loom capable of producing surprisingly large pieces.

If you need a 13" weaving width but mainly create medium-sized projects, the Big Sister 16" is more compact. If weaving length is important to you, the Tall Edition 16" is the more logical choice.
Which version should you choose?
At Tisse et File, the Tall Edition 16" is offered in two configurations. The shedding device is included with both versions.

Don't already own heddles?
We recommend the With shedding device + 200 Texsolv heddles version. It includes two bundles of 100 reusable heddles.
The number of heddles required depends on the width of your project, the warp sett and the type of weaving. Some projects may therefore require more than 200 heddles.
Don't need the shedding device for a particular project?
Even though it is included, you do not have to use it. When warping the loom, you can choose to set it up with or without the shedding device, depending on your project.
Want to take advantage of the loom's full weaving length?
With the shedding device in place, the maximum weaving length is 47" (119 cm) using continuous warping. You can reach 51" (130 cm) by using the shedding device during the project and then removing it at the very end to finish the piece.

The weaving lengths specified by Mirrix already account for the warp waste required for weaving.
Care and use
When warping the Tall Edition 16", Mirrix recommends keeping approximately 6" of the threaded rod covered, as with Mirrix looms 22" and larger, rather than the 4" recommended for the standard Big Sister 16".
Springs should be installed and removed carefully, as their ends can be sharp. Combs and some other metal components may also have sharp surfaces and should be handled with care.
Mirrix also advises against unnecessarily taking the loom apart, as some components can be more difficult to align correctly when the loom is reassembled.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the Big Sister 16" and the Tall Edition 16"?
Both provide a maximum weaving width of 13". The Tall Edition, however, has the height of a 22" Mirrix loom, allowing you to weave considerably longer pieces.
Is the shedding device included?
Yes. Both versions offered by Tisse et File include the Mirrix shedding device and handle.
Are heddles included?
Only with the “With shedding device + 200 Texsolv heddles” version. The “With shedding device” version does not include heddles. Heddles are required to use the shedding device.
Do I have to use the shedding device for every project?
No. Mirrix specifies that you can choose whether or not to use the shedding device when warping the loom, depending on your project.
How long a piece can I actually weave?
With the shedding device in place, you can weave a piece up to approximately 47" long using continuous warping. Without the shedding device, the maximum length is approximately 51". You can also use the shedding device for most of the weaving and remove it near the end to take advantage of the additional length.
What if the loom is not currently in stock?
