In this course, you will learn how to start weaving bands with cards.

Course duration: 5:30 to 6 hours

Topics covered:

Level:
Weaving experience is desirable, but not mandatory.

What to bring:
● paper to take notes
● 2/8 “ robust ” thread (orlec, mercerized cotton, cotton, polyester...) in 2 to 6 colors
(approx. 300 yards, depending on length of warping)
● Scissors, cords for attaching the chain (can be strips of tricolette or
something else, it doesn't have to be pretty, it'll be utilitarian)
● 25 cards with 4 holes
● Inkle loom or belt (loan available on request)
● 2 or 3 C-shaped clamp to warp
● Flat shuttle with one side at an angle to pack the weft thread tightly (loan available on request)
● pencil and colored pencils
● indoor shoes

Inclusions
● loan of all necessary equipment and shuttle on request

The course is presented by:
Françoise Trépanier
After receiving a loom from her aunt by marriage and mentor, Marie-Reine, she began her apprenticeship at the Lasalle weavers' guild, of which she is still a member today.
An avid learner, Françoise has deepened her knowledge by taking courses at the Association des Tisserands d'Ici (ATI) and many other workshops. Françoise is very involved with the Lasalle Guild, as well as with the Association des tisserands du Québec. She has been giving weaving courses for many years, including one on the Backstrap loom technique, weaving on Inkle loom and thread tracing. She has also given several lectures on card weaving.

Location:
The weaving class will take place at Tisse et File, 571 Boul. St-Jean-Baptiste in Mercier.

Schedule:
The class runs from 9 to 12 a.m. and from 1 to 4 p.m.

You can bring your own lunch.
There's also a Tim Hortons next door, as well as several restaurants in the area.

Sales conditions:
A minimum of 3 registrations and a maximum of 6 people are required for the course to run smoothly.
Due to the small number of participants, we are unable to exchange or refund the purchase of a course.
